BACUP

Established in 1990 in Novosibirsk, Russia.

Celebrating our 30th anniversary in the year 2020, we proudly look back at our achievements and give our sincere gratitude to all the people who were part of our history and to the people who will shape our future.

Our story
Arthur Rakhimov, founder and CEO of BACUP, tells our story in a short interview
— Tell us about how you started the company...

— It was the beginning of "wild 90s": the country is in ruin and there is an active process or redistribution of ownership and spheres of influences. At that time innovations and technologies where the lest what people were interested in. The main goal was to grab a piece from the crumbling former economic power of the country. Meanwhile, there were no officials or political bosses among my circle of my connections, so I had no access to state assets. The only reasonable way to go was to occupy a vacant gap in the crumbling industry.

— How did you get involved with software development?

— It started quite unexpectedly when one of the leading banks in Novosibirsk suggested that we should develop a system for automating banking activities.

At that moment, our company specialized in the production of domestic data communication technologies. Nobody in our city was seriously involved in software development. Therefore, we were the closed to the topic the bank was interested in.

Successful implementation of banking software and growing interest in such software from the banking market convinced us that this was a perspective direction. After careful consideration I decided to focus solely on software development.

— When and how you started to work with foreign clients?
— The financial crisis of 2008 gave us a nudge to look towards the foreign market. Russian clients either went bankrupt or drastically reduced investments into information technology. We decided not to dwell on hardships of that time but to explore new opportunities.

— How did you manage to survive the numerous financial crises?— Working with European and American companies with stable business development and tight financial discipline is protecting us from problems in Russian economy.

— Why did you decide to expand your presence on foreign market?— It became clear that there will be no improvement in Russian economy in the foreseeable future. Therefore, it is necessary to expand even further in exporting our services and solutions. We already have extensive experiences in outsourcing software development services, but we decided to take it to the next level and move away from developing software from the scratch.
It is our belief that by offering to the clients our expert knowledge and experiences with our low-code platform we can deliver more effective results. By using the excellent foundation provided by our platform we can get up-and-running quickly and efficiently. It might limit our target market, but it significantly increases speed and quality of our services.
